The Regional Industrial Development Corporation of Southwestern Pennsylvania (RIDC) is a private, non-profit organization that focuses on a regional approach to economic development. Established in 1955, the RIDC was formed to foster new employment opportunities and to diversify the regional economy of southwestern Pennsylvania.
Through a wide range of real estate development activities, RIDC provides development, finance and leasing of new and redeveloped buildings and stands ready to assist the growth of businesses throughout the Pittsburgh region.

RIDC Impact The City Center of Duquesne was once home to the Duquesne Steel Works, which opened in 1886 and employed over 8,000 people. The plant closed in the 1980s. RIDC acquired the site and started remediation in 1990. RIDC has renovated five buildings, and four new buildings have been constructed. Today, the RIDC City Center of Duquesne is home to 14 companies, employing nearly 650 people.
